An apple is great this time of year, but apple crisp is better. There is something about that first bite into an in-season apple. Today’s recipe was adapted from Betty Crocker. It’s Betty only better. Or at least in my opinion it is.
I use less sugar and flour to make it a tiny bit healthier…. because… I have to top it with vanilla ice cream and caramel. I mean… it’s not apple crisp unless it has something really decadent on top of it right?
It’s still hot outside, and our kids don’t go back to school until after Labor Day, but fresh, crisp apples are in season. And boy, are they good.
Can you taste the apple and cinnamon and caramel and vanilla ice cream? I love how the warm apple crisp and cold ice cream melt in your mouth.
