Tween Strong Camo Bedroom

When we moved, I wanted to create a special space for Stepson.  There was no discussion.  He wanted an Army bedroom.  Army… Army… Army… just like his Father.

His was the first room I designed and completed, so please excuse the average paint job… I’ve gotten much better since then.  I used several different color greens and browns to give it a little more depth and interest.

Between buying the house and literally furnishing it from scratch, we were on a tight budget.  The problem… I like nice things.  And for Stepson’s bedroom… I was coveting Pottery Barn Kid’s Camp Collection.  But not the price.

And then I remembered…. JCPenney.

Although not available any more, their Ethan Collection was almost identical to the Camp Collection.  At about half the price.  I purchased the bed, night stand, and dresser.   You can’t beat JCPenney for great style at a great price!

The entire bed set is from JCPenney… the comforter, sheets, and blanket…. The Special Forces Bedding Ensemble.   All still currently available (at the time of article’s draft).

I love the beadboard style.  The bed also came with a trundle.

Remember the Camo Blinds DIY?  I made these blinds myself to match the room for super super cheap!

The JCPenney dresser has the same beadboard style.

I paired the dresser with an old bookcase I’ve had forever… painted it Behr’s Sweet Molasses to match the theme of the room.

And of course the matching camo night light and laundry hamper.

All of the prints are from Hubby’s career as a Green Beret.

My Grandfather brought this map back with him from WWII.  My Father gave it to Hubby and we had it framed for Stepson’s room.

And last but not least, the DIY boy scout bunting I made for him.

I love how this room turned out and even more important, Stepson loves his space.  It’s totally him.

I hope you enjoyed how I created this space on a budget, with some special family pieces, some DIY’s and some shopping at JCPenney.  I am very excited to showcase this room as an affiliate of JCPenney.  This is not a paid post and all opinions are mine.

Hey, your son’s room looks great! I just ordered the same bedding set for my son, who also said “army, army army!” for his bedroom. Wondering if you know what color the walls are painted? I want to paint this weekend to sneak it in before the holidays but won’t have the bedding yet to match the color.

    Thanks!

Hi Cindy – Thank you for your kind words and I’m not sure of the exact color. I went with more of an olive green so it wasn’t too dark or too light and then I used Behr’s Sweet Molassas for the trim, and a standard beige for complimentary color. Sounds like a fun surprise for your son and good luck with the room. I never thought I would enjoy decorating everything in my world camo as much as I do. Hugs, Holly
