High-Low Chair Vignette

For today, I channeled my inner Sabrina Soto to show you this high-low chair vignette and offer suggestions on how to create a high-end look for less.

High Low Chair Vignette by

How many of you watch the High Low Project with Sabrina Soto?  It’s one of my favorite shows!  If you love it (or even if you have never heard of it), keep reading… I have a surprise for you at the end of the post…

High End

This Thatcher Upholstered Wingback Chair from Pottery Barn retails at full price for $859.00.  It has a gorgeous nail head trim and dark wood legs.

This Pedestal Side Table from Ballard Designs retails at full price for $595.00

The total comes out to…$1,454.00 not including tax (or shipping).

Low End

Our library is still a work in progress, and purchasing a small rug is on the to-do list (always something, right?).  But looking beyond that, here is the low end chair vignette.

I found the chair at the Habitat Store for $40.00.  I love this store because all items are donated and the proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.  Win-win for all!   The pedestal side table was a yard sale find at $5.00.  While the low end chair doesn’t have the full nail head trim like the high end, it still maintains the same balance.  The pedestal side table is smaller and has a slightly different profile, but overall, this is my frugal way to recreate the high end look.

For under $50.00, I was able to frugally recreate a similar look in our home.

High Low Chair Vignette

I took a high end wingback chair vignette at $1,454 and recreated the look for $1,404 less.  What did we do with the $1,404 savings?  We put that money into the downstairs guest bathroom remodel which was needed after a waterfall sized leak.  Be sure to subscribe to my blog and follow me so you don’t miss the bathroom reveal in the next few weeks.

More or Less Series by Stacy Risenmay

Are you familiar with Stacy Risenmay’s blog Not Just a Housewife?  I don’t know if other bloggers have “blog crushes” but she is my #1 blog crush – and Stacy – I say that in a very sincere and non-stalkery way!!!  She was recently given an incredible opportunity.  The new TV show, American Dream Builders is hosted by Nate Berkus where they create high end rooms.  The show airs on NBC on Sunday night.  On Monday morning, Stacy’s new series, More or Less will show you how to recreate one of those rooms for less.  Sabrina Soto, watch out… my girl Stacy is one to watch.

WOW!!!! Just…WOW!!! I have got to find out if a Habitat place is here in the Kansas City, MO area!!! What a huge savings for a look that is so classic! I would LOVE to be able to re-furnish a couple of rooms without spending a fortune! What a deal!!!!!!

I’ve never heard of that show with Sabrina Soto, but I’ll look it up and check it out. Sounds like I could really learn some great tricks there! Thanks for sharing the info! Also, best wishes to Stacy!!!

Hi Alycia – Like any store of that nature, you have to go fairly often as the turnover is daily. But they have everything “big” for your home, including the kitchen sink. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Holly

  8. Julie @ Girl on the Move

Stopping by from SITS Sharefest! I love the look of high end design but not the prices so I’m loving how you recreated the look!

Thrifty and beautiful. No one will compare, they will just look at your chair and table and think it’s terrific. I think we all forget that when we create a look, others have no idea what our inspiration was. They just see the beauty that has been created. The fact that you did with thrifty finds makes it all the more beautiful!

Hi Sarah – Thank you for your kind words and so very true – what a great reminder. Hugs, Holly
